These are the cheapest 5G mobiles you can find on the market in China. The connectivity of the future is no longer limited to premium models with prices over 5000 RMB. The mid-range of smartphones already has 5G.
5G connectivity is being deployed by operators in major cities and the compatible terminals that support these new speeds are already very numerous. If at the end of last year, 5G was somewhat restricted to high-end mobiles, this has changed.
Today, 5G connectivity has democratized and become established in the mid-range of smartphones so that it is possible to buy one for as little as 3K+ RMB, as is the case with Xiaomi’s Mi 10 Lite 5G.
But this isn’t the only choice. We’ve found over several smartphones, from all the major China’s phone manufacturers, whether they’re from Huawei, Realme, Xiaomi, OnePlus, or Oppo.
Obviously, we have left out of this article all those smartphone models that offering 5G connection, the payment for their purchase reaches over 5000 Yuan.
1. Realme X50 Pro 5G
The X50 Pro by Realme has been on the market for a few months now, so we have had the opportunity to test it out thoroughly. There are many aspects to highlight this great mobile, such as its Snapdragon 865 chip, the 12GB RAM, or the super-fast battery charge.
The recent arrival of its brother X3 SuperZoom does not seem to have eclipsed the company’s flagship.
Features such as its fast 65W SuperDart charge help it stand out from its more expensive competitors. In speed tests, we managed to achieve theoretical download speeds of up to 3.45Gbps and uploads of up to 900Mbps.
The Realme X50 Pro retains the values the company espouses, combining affordable pricing with premium features and cutting back on only those aspects that are not as critical to the user.
2. Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G
The younger brother of the Xiaomi Mi 10 comes out with some cutbacks in features and performance but maintaining 5G connectivity at an unbeatable price of just ￥3000. You won’t find a 5G phone that cheap on the market, at least not yet.
The fact that it’s nicknamed the Lite model pigtail doesn’t prevent the display size from also being generous at 6.57-inch, with an AMOLED TrueColor panel that comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset with 5G connectivity.
This model comes with a 4160mAh battery and a 20W fast charge option. It’s not the same as its big brothers Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro with 4500mAh batteries and 65W fast charge cable, but it’s certainly to be expected in the range we are in.
3. Huawei Mate 20x 5G
The 5G variant of the Mate family has been available on the market since the second half of last year, which has made it possible for its price to be considerably reduced so that the Huawei Mate 20x can be found at a formidable price of 4000 Yuan at Vmall.
Its 7.2-inch OLED screen is huge to enjoy without limits the speeds offered by 5G connections, with a Huawei proprietary Kirin 980 processor accompanied by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The 5G variant has added a Balong 5000 chipset and SuperCool graphite heat tubes to maintain the right temperature of the internal components. Also, its battery is 4200mAh capacity with the 40W super fast charge mode.
4. OnePlus 8
Although for many fans of the brand, the price has increased slightly from previous versions, with the purchase of the OnePlus 8, you once again get an exceptionally good smartphone in terms of price and performance.
The combination of design, manufacturing quality, features, and performance is the high standard we expect from OnePlus. Also the 90Hz display and the specifications of the chip you use to cover the 5G section, even if it is not the cheapest.
It is very easy to recommend the OnePlus 8 compared to many other rivals, so the question you should ask yourself is whether you should opt for the top model Pro, with which you get 120Hz QHD display, better cameras, IP68 waterproofing and wireless charging.
5. Oppo Find X2 NEO 5G
After announcing the Find X2 Pro and the standard Find X2, Oppo surprised us last April with two more economical options: the Find X2 Neo and the Find X2 Lite. The case that interests us here, is the Find X2 Neo with 5G, 12GB of RAM, and 256 storage.
The X2 Neo model includes a quad camera with the main 48MP, 13MP telephoto lens, 8MP wide angle, and a 2MP monochrome fourth, the front camera being a selfie of no more and no less than 32 MP.
Both Find X2 Neo and Find X2 Lite models feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G eight-core processor with 5G integrated into the SoC, which supports download speeds of up to 3.7 Gbps in NSA mode: n40/n78.
The display in the above is a 6.5-inch, 90Hz AMOLED curve. It also features a unique surround antenna that intelligently adjusts to the user’s position for the best possible signal.
As with all 5G mobiles, it requires a high-capacity battery to provide the terminal with high availability. The included capacity is 4025mAh and it can reach 50% charge in just 20 minutes thanks to the 30W fast charge mode.
6. Xiaomi Mix 3 5G
Among the wide variety of smartphones marketed by Xiaomi, you should know that you can find the Mix 3 model at a price of 3000 RMB, and the here commented Mix 3 5G whose main difference is the support of connectivity for just 1000 Yuan.
In essence, the design and features are similar. The Mi Mix was the first phone of the brand to introduce “full screen”. Although it has not managed to make the edges and bezels disappear completely, the screen to body ratio is one hundred percent.
The model we recommend is the standard model, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage without the option of expansion. An 8GB RAM model with 128GB or 256GB storage is also sold in China.
In other respects, the Mi Mix 3 may not be too radical an upgrade from the previous 2S. However, it’s still a fast, sleek, feature-rich phone with 5G support, available at an incredible price to your specifications.
7. Oppo Reno 5G
Oppo has always wanted to make the best screen-body ratio mobiles on the market and this is something that they managed to achieve at the time with the arrival of their Reno series and the implementation of the Selfie camera as a shark or pop-up.
In the Reno 5G, its screen is 6.6 inches with FHD+ resolution at 2340 x 1080 pixels and a brightness of 430 nits. Its protection is led by the Corning Gorilla Glass 6 technology, with a fingerprint reader integrated under the screen.
Its triple camera assembly, where the main sensor of 48 MP prevails, is accompanied by a ten-fold hybrid zoom that allows to cover a focal distance that goes from 16 to 60 millimeters (the equivalent in a typical reflex camera).
In connectivity, it stands out, in addition to the 5G, for the support of technologies such as NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-frequency GPS, or the USB-C port. In this sense, its 4065mAh battery can be quickly charged with Super VOOC 3.0.
The Oppo Reno 5G is not exactly one of the cheapest models discussed here, but by its specifications, you’re getting a premium phone with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of color storage Ocean Green or Jet Black.
8. Xiaomi Mi 10
In addition to the Xiaomi Mi 10 5G Lite model, which is also included in this article as a cheaper option, we also wanted to include the standard Mi 10, which is priced higher but remains below the 5000 Yuan barrier, despite being 5G.
Thus, it bases its potential and connectivity on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 SM8250 processor with eight cores and 1.8GHz speed, providing the terminal with 5G SA/NSA connectivity with speeds exceeding 2Gbps in download.
Competing with the Android throne has these things, and Xiaomi manages to lower the price of the standard model to ￥4999, compared to ￥6999 for the Mi 10 Pro. Both have a 6.67-inch screen and a 90Hz refresh rate.
Thus, the differences between both models only lie in the potential of the cameras, since the Pro model supports the telephoto lens.
These are the 8 cheapest 5G smartphones you can buy in China today. Which one do you like best, please leave a comment.
